Embarcadero: Um pouco de história para começar nossa conversa

A versão orientada a objetos da linguagem de programação Pascal, o Object Pascal, é uma excelente opção para o desenvolvimento rápido de aplicações de negócios em múltiplas plataformas, e tem sido muito utilizada para fins de ensino nas disciplinas de desenvolvimento de sistemas.

Sua encarnação mais conhecida é o Delphi. Em todo o mundo existem aproximadamente 3 milhões de desenvolvedores que utilizam a ferramenta. Programas populares como o Skype, Áudio Grabber, Macromedia Captivate, QuickBooks Point of Sale, Sirius32, Webroot Spy Sweeper, entre muitos outros, foram escritos com a linguagem. Oriundo do Turbo Pascal, então fabricado pela Borland, o Delphi começou sua história em 1995, suportando desenvolvimento para Windows 3.1. Este momento foi um marco para a história moderna do desenvolvimento de software, pois introduziu conceitos revolucionários, como o ambiente RAD (Rapid Application Development) que, até hoje, pautam a indústria do desenvolvimento de software.

Já em sua primeira versão a ferramenta apresentava uma linguagem totalmente orientada a objetos, um compilador nativo extremamente rápido, suporte integrado a banco de dados e uma vasta biblioteca de componentes ao estilo Windows, a nossa VCL: Visual Component Library.

Embarcadero to Acquire CA Technologies Data Modeling Business

SAN FRANCISCO – March 13, 2014 – Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of software solutions for application and database development, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire CA Technologies industry-leading CA ERwin® Data Modeling solution. The acquisition will give Embarcadero a broader route to market through additional channel partners and a set of employees who stand to thrive in an organization that is closely aligned with CA ERwin’s core strengths.

The combination of Embarcadero and CA ERwin will bring together two highly complementary technologies and create an organization uniquely qualified to meet companies’ needs for a more robust, secure data architecture.

SAN FRANCISCO – March 3, 2014 – Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of software solutions for application and database development, today announced its presence at Wearables DevCon, a wearable computing conference taking place March 5-7, 2014, in Burlingame, Calif. Jim McKeeth, developer evangelist at Embarcadero Technologies, will be presenting two sessions on development for wearable devices, using an EEG headset and also Google Glass.

The conference is a highly technical conference targeted toward the designers, builders and developers of wearable devices. Attendees will learn to develop for wearable devices such as Google Glass, FitBit, Pebble, the SmartWatch 2, Jawbone and the Galaxy Gear SmartWatch. They will learn tangible steps for real-world implementation of the next-generation of computing devices.

“Native App Development on Google Glass” Presentation

What: Google Glass is the next big thing in wearable computing, but few developers know how to take advantage of its features. This technical session will explore the current state of native application development on Google Glass. Attendees will learn setup and configuration of Glass for native development, discuss best practices and challenges encountered with different projects, and learn how specific challenges were overcome. The session will also include a few “interesting hacks” that involve using Google Glass in creative and novel ways.

“Is Thought the Future of Wearable Input?” Presentation

Who: Jim McKeeth, developer evangelist at Embarcadero Technologies
What: This presentation will cover the future of thought as input for wearable devices with real-world examples and code. Demonstrations will be shown using the Emotiv EPOC headset, a revolutionary high resolution, neuro-signal acquisition and processing wireless neuroheadset that uses a set of sensors to tune into electric signals produced by the brain to detect thoughts, feelings and expressions. In this intermediate level session, Jim will demonstrate the EEG neuroheadset and computer interface with examples of interfacing with desktop, mobile and wearable applications and discuss the roots of the technology, showing code and example uses of the technology.
